That look of pleasant surprise from Alta Properties' Kathleen Kusiak(whom we snapped at last week?s NEWiRE lunch) is caused by the performance of her firm's investment in Perkins Park, a 183-unit development on the Merrimack River in Lowell. Starting with two historic mill buildings, it was designed by Ganek Architects and redeveloped by Mira Development. The leasing plan called for about 70% of the apartments to be rented by now, but already 81% are taken. Kathleen?s on the hunt for more opportunistic investments. She's hoping to buy a hotel and more MF because "That's where the deals are." Makes sense.
