| MassHousing?s Tom Gleason, here celebrating with residents of Lower Mills Apartments, has closed a $28.9M loan to renovate and preserve nearly 500 units of public housing apartments at Heritage Apartments in East Boston and Lower Mills in Dorchester. The financing will help upgrade the housing for elderly and disabled residents by installing new heating systems, new windows, plumbing fixtures; some kitchen and bath upgrades and common area improvements. At a time when demand for affordable housing is growing while production has fallen to a 17-year low, this project will make a critical difference for hundreds of households. |
