Longwood Center Site Prep

Site work recently started on the $300M Longwood Center, a JV of National Development, Alexandria Real Estate Equities and Charles River Realty Investors, city sources say. The approximately 400k SF life science research building is at Brookline and Longwood Aves, the Main and Main of the Longwood Medical Area. National acquired the site in ?03 and in '08 won city approval for the project that features ground-floor retail with labs and offices above. Given the economic turmoil, the developer halted the project until recently. It's now one of many active construction sites in the LMA and, of course, citywide.
