| Anyone driving around Harvard Square might wonder why streets are closed and sidewalks dug up. Well, Harvard has vaulted over the hump in its Renzo Piano- designed redevelopment of the Harvard Art Museums, reported to cost $350M. The steel superstructure is complete; now, work has started on MEP systems two levels below grade and on installation of the signature steel-and-glass roof system. Germany’s Josef Gartner GmbH, known for manufacturing curtain walls, began its survey and is installing clips and supports for the insulated glass panels. The goal: be weather-tight by November, focus on the interior all of next year, and reopen in ’14, says spokesperson Jennifer Aubin. |
