North & Line Moves Forward at Masquerade Site

The Atlanta developer who made headlines buying the Masquerade music park and surrounding land is has taken another step forward for its planned mixed-use project.

Worthington Hyde Partners (in a JV with former owner Southeast Capital Partners) filed permits to develop its project North & Line, including a parking deck, retail space and apartments. The firm plans a project that will encompass 228 apartments in a five-story apartment complex with 4,500 SF of ground-floor retail. "The building amenities will include an elevated pool and ample pool deck overlooking the Historic Old Fourth Ward Park and the Atlanta skyline," officials state on the website.

What's the fate of the Masquerade, which has been a topic of speculation since Worthington bought the famed site earlier this year? Calls to SCP and Worthington Hyde were not returned by press time. And the permits don't appear to cover that portion of the property. But the SCP's website on the project indicates the redevelopment of the Masquerade (which they call by its historic name, the Excelsior Mill Building) will be transformed into high-end retail space.
