Artists and fans gathered Wednesday night at the Atlanta Contemporary Arts Center for the first-ever Nexus Awards. From right to left: Bry Ayers-Sparks of Idea-Span came out to support the arts (and her husband who was the event DJ), with her co-worker and Atlanta Contemporary Arts Board member Betsy Nurse, patron of the arts Nena Griffith, retired attorney Don Wyant, and board member Nancy Hoof.

 

The Center has been serving the arts community for 37 years and created the award to at last recognize arts professionals who have contributed to the vibrancy of the arts scene. Here are the first winners: Dr. Andrea Barnwell Brownlee, Director of the Spelman College Museum of Fine Art, and Dr. Jerry Cullum, Editor at Large of Art Papers.
