So what's Hines' strategy for keeping Alston & Bird  at One Atlantic Center?
 

This morning we snapped Hines SVP John Heagy in his office there. While it's well-known that the law firm has engaged Daniel to explore a new building, John's working to keep Alston in place when its current lease expires in 2013. Hines did three new leases last year and has a couple in the works, but John was an Eagle Scout and plans to be prepared. He's holding floors for a potential consolidation of Alston, which currently has 235k SF in One Atlantic Center, with nearly as much in neighboring Atlantic Center Plaza. C&W?s Ian Henderson  and Andy Ghertner rep the once and perhaps future tenant.

It was too gray outside to get a picture of the real building this morning, so we had to settle for the model. John says Hines intends to keep Midtown's first skyscraper, built in 1987, in its portfolio for a long time, and hopes that Alston & Bird will remain right there on floors so impressively high up our lens couldn't even capture them.
