Rendering Reveal: New Borough Park Orthodox School

New renderings first surfaced today showing what the United Talmudical Academy at 123 Clara St in Borough Park will look like.

There’ll be a synagogue on the first floor and a combo of classrooms for an all-boys religious institution, recreational areas and offices on the upper floors in addition to rooftop deck space, according to NY YIMBY. Zoning normally prohibits buildings taller than four stories in the area, but this project, designed by Zambrano Architectural Design, got a variance to go higher when permits were first filed, back in 2002.

After some financing hiccups, work on the building started in 2013. The zoning variance that allows the height boost expires in 2017, so there’s some pressure to get the building up before then. [NYY]
