Warehouse at 82 Ainslie St to Get Major Expansion/Resi Conversion

With all of the new apartment buildings popping up around the Metropolitan Avenue L stop in Williamsburg, one developer has chosen to take a different direction. Rather than tear down a warehouse at 82 Ainslie St, developer Juda Klein, of Parkview Management, is looking to expand it on a large scale and convert it into apartments. According to alteration permits filed with the city, the two-story brick building will get an additional four floors and 16 apartments spread across 11.5k SF, NY YIMBY reports. That works out to an average of 718 SF per unit. There will be 4.5k SF of retail on the ground floor, with four units on the second through fifth floors. Meanwhile, the sixth floor will be entirely taken up by two fifth-floor duplexes. There will also be shared terraces. Bryon Russell of Syndicate Architecture is slated to design. [NYY]
