Church Realizes It’s Sitting on Hot Property

New York Mixed-Use

Recovery House of Worship has asked Dan Marks (snapped in his office yesterday) and his TerraCRG colleagues to find developers for its 360 Schermerhorn St at Third Avenue in Brooklyn, two blocks from the Barclays Center. The 120-year-old church suffered a fire four years ago and hasn’t been able to use much of the property. Dan tells us the church’s RFP calls for ideas by mid-March for a mixed-use project that will provide worship space, a community center, and retail for the church, plus whatever the developer would like to put up.

He says the site will bear 112k SF total if the extra use is residential or 120k SF if it’s office or hotel. It’d be nice to incorporate the existing structure, he says, but nothing is off the table. The church is on the National Register of Historic Places but is not Landmarked.
