Mayor Bill de Blasio Says No More Deals with Trump

New York

Donald Trump's existing NYC business deals might be safe, but as long as Mayor Bill de Blasio is in office, there won't be any new deals for the real estate mogul. The mogul has long operated landmark attractions like the carousel and ice skating rinks at Central Park. Councilman Mark Levine has been pushing for the mayor to cut business ties with Trump in the wake of disparaging remarks he made during his presidential campaign regarding Mexicans crossing the border. He fanned the flames further on Saturday when he claimed Sen. John McCain was not an actual war hero because he was captured, the Wall Street Journal reports. However, as Trump warned in a letter, severing existing deals would be a violation of his First Amendment rights. Trump Organization EVP Ron Lieberman says the city should be thanking The Donald rather than reprimanding him. Lieberman argues that the Trump Organization, which holds a sizable NYC portfolio, has always been there when the city needed it most. [WSJ]
