Does Facebook Have Eyes On Space In One Of The City’s Shiny New Towers?

Facebook recently added 80k SF to its existing lease for 355k SF at Vornado’s 770 Broadway, but the Internet giant may be on the prowl for even more space.

The company has been looking for a new space to consolidate and perhaps expand its NYC operations. Facebook is seeking 500k SF or more, and has begun interviewing major developers about the possibility of moving into a newly built office tower, Crain’s reports.

Although the company may not move for several years, it's believed that the social media pioneer wants a large block of space that will allow for easy expansion in the future. Facebook may have its eyes on one of several new office towers in the pipeline for Hudson Yards, space in the World Trade Center, or a new tower built from the ground up to accommodate its 500k SF needs.

Facebook has declined to comment on its plans for new space in the city, but the company’s name has been bandied about as a potential target for a proposed “technology community” in Inwood. [Crain’s]
