Stroll for a Cure
CBRE's Mary Ann Tighe, Bob Wachs, and Tess Wachs
Want to do good? Join Uniting Against Lung Cancer for its annual benefit gala on Nov. 17, the Strolling Supper with Blues & News(info). Hosted by honorary chairmen Tom Brokaw (in person) and Brian Williams, the event benefits lung cancer research and commemorates NYC's Lung Cancer Awareness Month. The charity started nine years ago in memory of Joan Scarangello, sister of CBRE's Mary Ann Tighe (above, with board members Bob Wachsand Tess Wachs last year) and Thornton Tomasetti's Tom Scarangello, and sister-in-law of Great Ink Communications'Roxanne Donovan. Much has happened for UALC over the past year, Mary Ann tells us, including its merger with the Thomas G. Labrecque Foundation and Canary Lung Program, making it the largest private, non-profit funder of lung cancer research in the US and Canada. This year, it plans to give out $2.1M in grants to researchers looking for new treatments and protocols, and hopes to raise $1M from Strolling Supper. Delbert McClinton will perform, joined by rock violinist Lorenza Ponce.
