Retail Goes Global
Prudential Douglas Elliman's Joe Aquino
We've finally made a move on the West Coast, launching Bisnow Los Angeles yesterday (subscribe!)—and one of our first assignments was heading to Sin City for ICSC RECon, where we snapped this of Prudential Douglas Elliman's Joe Aquino. The Y chromosome didn't stop him from gallantly stepping in when colleague Faith Hope Consolo was unable to helm a roundtable on new retailers and globalization at the “Women in Retail Real Estate” special interest group session. He tells us that 30 of 39 available stores on Madison Avenue were leased last year; a number of new retailers came from India, including leading fashion house Kimaya, which took 4.5k SF at 717 Madison. Additionally, some watch brands “several hundred-years old” finally opened US stores in NY—there's no time like the present.
