HAPPY TRAILS!
Transwestern's Eric Mockler
A Big Apple farewell to Eric Mockler, who's starting as Transwestern' s new Mid-Atlantic prez today, replacing Tom Nordlinger, who retired at the end of last year. The "new guy" is leaving a 20-year career in NY to play a part in DC, which he calls "a sophisticated market." He joins from a senior managing director post at Cassidy Turley. "I started from the ground up with a desk and a phone in a 300M SF market," he tells us.

Now it's time for Eric (in his for-now home office in Connecticut) to get to know DC, and recruiting will be a big focus off the bat; he's already talking with senior leaders about hot broker teams. He also tells us expansion into the larger Mid-Atlantic region is likely. Meanwhile, he and wife Shirley (originally from Dublin) are house hunting. Considerations: schools for twins Aisling (Irish for "dream") and Christian (Irish for "never gets asked what his name means"); access to schools for Shirley to continue her master's degree studies in healthcare and clinical nursing instruction; and room for Eric's organic garden. If you run across Eric around town, extend your congrats: The lucky dad survived this past weekend escorting Christian and 20 friends to a baseball game for his ninth birthday.
