Going for Gold (and Green)
Jamestown’s Ben Gainey, MHP’s Norm Sturner, Jamestown subsidiary Green Street Properties’ Walter Brown, and USGBC of New York’s Russell Unger
Congrats to Jamestown and Murray Hill Properties, whose 770k SF 1250 Broadway recently received LEED-EB Gold cert, the third-ever existing building in NYC to be so be honored. Above, Jamestown’s Ben Gainey, MHP’s Norm Sturner, Jamestown subsidiary Green Street Properties’ Walter Brown, and USGBC of New York’s Russell Unger hold up the building’s new bling. Improvements included retrofits on all energy systems, which resulted in a 25% reduction in total energy consumption and 45% reduction in water use. The building also established rigorous recycling programs, indoor air quality improvement, alternative transportation initiatives, and new green cleaning and green purchasing practices. Green Street, a national green consulting and development firm, is looking to expand its NY footprint, having already consulted onChelsea Market and 111 Eighth Ave (the latter which Googlepurchased for $1.8B in December).
