Newmark Hires Eastern Consolidated’s Brian Ezratty And Ron Solarz

Former Eastern Consolidated brokers Brian Ezratty and Ron Solarz are the latest get for Newmark Knight Frank.

They will run the new Private Client Group at Newmark and help with the firm’s national expansion, the Manhattan-based brokerage announced. Solarz will be joining as executive managing director and Ezratty as vice chairman. Joining them will be their former Eastern colleagues Karlene Canner, Scott Ellard, Jason Shein and Johnny Yuran.

Eastern Consolidated announced its closure back in July, following an almost 40-year run in business. The shuttering of the firm caused major turmoil in the investment sales brokerage world, with sources telling Bisnow last month that many brokers had been left scrambling to find a new home.

In the months since it closed, former broker Adelaide Polsinelli joined Compass to run its investment sales shop, and James Famularo went to Meridian Capital Group to launch a retail leasing division.

Newmark, which plans to buy brokerage RKF — although it announced that deal in May and it has still not closed — has lured some major names in the last year.

It hired a group of managing directors from rival brokerage Eastdil Secured to run its hotel capital markets group. Cantor Commercial Real Estate founder and CEO Anthony Orso joined Newmark as the president of capital market strategies in March.
