Activists Plan Protest At Jersey City's Trump Bay Street

Placeholder

A group of local activists is planning to protest outside of Trump Bay Street, the 447-unit residential high-rise on Bay Street in Downtown Jersey City developed by The Trump Organization, Kushner Cos. and The KABR Group.

The protesters — upset with President Donald Trump's recent actions targeting illegal immigration, refugees from Muslim-majority countries and comments he made in 2015 about Jersey City's reaction to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks — say that Trump son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner "should not profit off of" Jersey City, NJ.com reports. Kushner stepped down as CEO of Kushner Cos. in light of his new White House role.

The protest, scheduled for Feb. 25 at 1 p.m., will also serve to tell retailers that protesters will boycott stores that rent space in the 50-story tower, which will have more than 10k SF of retail when it opens.

Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop and City Council president Rolando Lavarro Jr. have been vocal against Trump's actions.
