A company that started as a tracking system for prescription drugs has entered the booming marijuana industry. Bio-Tech Medical Software has developed a system to track the plants from seed all the way to sale, while also providing information on sales, trends and employee handling. All parts of the plant are tagged and numbered with a unique serial number; it's being used by state governments, growers and medical and recreational dispensaries, MarketWatch reports. Bio-Tech founder and co-Ceo Steven Siegel started the company in 2007 as a way to combat prescription and pain killer abuse. [MKT]
