The LiveSafe team in Arlington, Va., has raised $6.5M in new funding. (Its app lets college students quickly report crimes.) The round was led by IAC, which owns companies like Match.com, OK Cupid, Vimeo, and Tutor.com. IAC chairman and Fox Broadcasting and USA Broadcasting creator Barry Diller will sit on LiveSafe’s board. CEO Jenny Abramson says the funding will go toward product enhancements and expanding the app to other states and markets. It’s already used by colleges in eight states, but Jenny says there’s interest in the personal safety app from the military, sports venues, and shopping malls.
