How This Fast-Casual Chain Plans to Beat Shake Shack and Five Guys

National Retail

Burger chain Fatburger recently announced a partnership with food-ordering company GrubHub, a key move to set itself apart from fast-casual rivals Smashburger, Five Guys and Shake Shack.

The burger chain will now allow customers to order delivery directly from GrubHub, without sacrificing money, effort and time in creating its own delivery service.

Fatburger temporarily partnered with Uber Eats, but is also in talks with app-based delivery service Postmates, which already works with Chipotle and McDonald's.

"We're engaging with brands in ways I don't think anyone would have thought they would a few years ago," Fatburger's VP of Marketing Thayer Wiederhorn says. The plan for the chain is to not just franchise but establish itself as a worldwide brand. [BI]
