Sustainability efforts are saving Hannaford Supermarkets—a Maine-based chain with 184 locations in New England and Upstate New York—$15M annually, while diverting 125 million pounds of waste from landfills and keeping more than 430 million pounds of greenhouse gases from being emitted, reports Supermarket News. Among its efforts are electric, natural gas and water conservation.
