SAN FRANCISCO: What Makes A Creative Office?


At Bisnow's recent San Francisco Creative Office Summit, panelists discussed trends fueling today's space needs. RocketSpace CEO Duncan Logan, left--whose accelerator campus houses 130 tech companies--tells us as people pack in like sardines (one person per 70 SF), headphones are the new "virtual cubicles"; 50% of RocketSpace workers sport them three to four hours a day. (All those years of drowning out your parents has turned into useful workplace etiquette training.) Phone calls are also declining 10% per year, which means private nooks and crannies are replacing private offices, and high-backed sofas and cubbyholes are the new meeting rooms. NicholsBooth Architects' Rob Wood says one desirable design trend is flexible workstations and team rooms that can be modified by the end user, depending on the task at hand. Read more here.
