Ex-WeWorkers Opening Health-Focused Co-working Space

Two WeWork alumni, Lisa Skye Hain and Daniel Orenstein, have launched their own co-working provider with an emphasis on healthy living.

They’re calling it Primary, a nod to the primacy of health to productivity. Daniel tells the Commercial Observer that the new enterprise is going after a more “up-market” feel, and packages health and wellness as a part of the whole experience tenants get.

Lisa’s role at WeWork was head of community, and she stayed on board just 14 months after the company’s founding. Daniel stuck around about a year longer, leaving in 2012. When Lisa picked up an undisclosed private investment for the new venture, she and Daniel teamed up to make it happen. The first space, 25k SF at 26 Broadway, is now being built out with a scheduled May 1 opening.

It’ll have a 600 SF fitness studio that will host over 30 yoga and meditation classes every week. Activities that take customers off campus and into the world, like group bike rides and runs, will be part of the experience.

Oh, and plants on the walls. Those will be a thing there, too.

The space will have a capacity of 324 workers, split up between long tables in a common area and individual offices holding up to 10 people each, as well as conference rooms. It’ll have a dedicated section for health-related businesses. Pricing will start at $150 a month and go all the way up to $7k a month. [CO]
