YOtel Expansion Targets Miami, SF, NYC

Budget hotel chain YOtel has announced plans to open 3,000 "cabins" in properties spread across Europe, Asian and American markets including Miami, San Francisco and Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The Downtown Miami location will be the largest of the three in the US, with 250 cabins. SF's tech-y Mid-Market neighborhood will get a 200-cabin version while Williamsburg will welcome a 100K SF, 110-room YOtel. Additionally, YOtel announced in a prepared statement that it was "in advanced negotiations to operate new properties" in Boston, Atlanta, Austin, Chicago, Los Angeles and Seattle.

The brand, which first opened in 2007 with minimalist but modern lodgings for stranded airport travelers, opened its first New York property in 2011 just outside of Times Square. Other locations currently include sites at London's Heathrow and Gatwick airports and Amsterdam's Airport Schipol. The company partnered with Related Companies and in-demand design firm the Rockwell Group on the Times Square satellite.
