Obama Is 'Pleased' With Yellen

Placeholder

President Barack Obama met with Fed chairwoman Janet Yellen on Monday to discuss the US economy as signs indicate growth may be slowing. While the meeting was closed to the media, the White House Press Secretary says Obama is “pleased” with Yellen.

This was the first time since November 2014 the Fed chair has met with the president on her own, but it’s not hard to see why—the economy looks like it has hit a soft patch. Consumers reined in spending at the start of the year and auto sales fell to their lowest level in a year, Bloomberg reports.

And while Yellen and the Fed are independent from the president, all signs indicate Obama is happy with her work—the White House Press Secretary said he “has been pleased with the way she has fulfilled what is a critically important job.” [Bloomberg]
