Jacob Chetrit Moves to Evict Tenant Over Airbnb Listing

Manhattan landlord Jacob Chetrit has moved to evict an Upper West Side tenant for renting out her rent-stabilzied apartment on Airbnb. The lawsuit filed in Manhattan Supreme Court alleges that Staci Poole, a resident of 784 Columbus Avenue, has been using the apartment as a short-term lodging since 2011. She currently charges $190 a night to travelers and lives one block away, claims Chetrit, whose brother Joe owns the Sony Building among other trophy properties.

The suit also centers on New York state law prohibiting lesees from renting out their homes for periods shorter than 30 days. Last month, a Judge evicted a rent-stabilized tenant in Hell's Kitchen for listing his apartment on Airbnb. [NYP]
