Here's the Windiest US City (and It's Not Chicago!)

National

Sadly, the "Windy City" did not make the list of America's windiest cities. (Side note: Its nickname actually has more to do with its politicians than its weather.)

It was actually Jackson, Mississippi, that ran (or flew) away with the title in CoreLogic's newest report, boasting a max wind speed of 99 mph and 153 separate windy events between 2006 and 2015. Jackson also had the highest number of windy events in the first half of 2015, with a total of 14.

Other windiest cities include Springfield, MO; Boston and Cambridge, MA; and Shreveport, LA. The report notes that while hurricanes and tornadoes get all the glory, wind can cause damage over time and shouldn't be overlooked. Oh, and in case you were wondering, Chicago is all the way back in 50th place.
