What is Bisnow?

National

It's OK if you don't know what Bisnow is. Sure, it's weird that you've been receiving our emails without stopping to ask. But if weird behavior were shunned, Zooey Deschanel wouldn't have a career. So here's a quick rundown of who we are:

Refusing to kowtow to tradition, our New York office put up a palm tree for Christmas. This is a reminder why we still keep our main HQ in DC, where being responsible and honoring tradition is considered chic. We now have 75 employees and publish in 27 major metros coast-to-coast. (Our latest is Vancouver, BC. If you know any grizzly bear reporters, have them send their resumes. We pay in raw salmon.)

Speaking of DC, here's the wall as you enter. So, what is one of the dreams to which it refers? To be the people-oriented, hyperlocal news, events, and education

It must cost a fortune to hand-deliver Bisnow to every city we publish, right? Wrong. We have always been all-electronic. And while that deprives you of a valuable chance of kinship with your mail carrier, we put the money we save back into our events, keeping the costs very affordable. Besides, does print even have a future? The Onion has some thoughts on that.

Here are folks who recently came to an event of ours in Fort Worth. Although in current parlance we take pride in being "disruptive," please do not think that means we are wild and unruly, although some of our editors were known for that in grade school (which is a diplomatic way of saying high school and well into college).

We also host national and multi-day events for those who really like a topic and want to dive in (or who just have frequent flyer miles to burn). Above, Marriott CEO Arne Sorenson at a Bisnow Lodging Investment Summit, which we not only put in capital letters like that to look distinguished but so it lends itself to an acronym, BLIS, that we hope makes it easier for our readers over 30 to remember, since it's annual.

And 375 in Seattle. Don't all these folks have something better to do? Thank goodness, no. We kid, of course. Thank you all for being the world's greatest industry and for being so warm and hospitable to people like us, even though we're still trying to figure out what a cap rate is.
