Publisher's Notebook: Goldfinger's Miami

Placeholder

Take a look at the buildings in this famous opening scene of the 1964 movie Goldfinger (please ignore the appalling sexism of the clip—or consider it just a historic artifact).

We shot this second clip just two days ago. (Our editor has thoughtfully added the old Goldfinger music.) Amazingly, despite a $1B renovation of the Fontainebleau in 2008, the building exteriors are still perfectly preserved 51 years later. (Same with the equally iconic Eden Roc next door, which you can see pics of in 1956 I Love Lucy episodes.) Someone who's parked a yacht across Collins Avenue seems to know their cinematic history.
