Soulful Mayfield's £1.1B Plan

How it will look: the soulful park at the £1B Mayfield development

U+I has revealed plans for what they call a "soulful" £1.1B redevelopment of Manchester's 30-acre Mayfield site.

A planning application is to be submitted this summer for the site next to Piccadilly station. The first phase will include 90K SF of offices and a 6.5-acre managed public park centred around the River Medlock, which runs through the site. It will be the city’s first new park in a century.

Less soulfully, there will be a 550-space multi-storey car park on Baring Street.

The Mayfield Partnership’s long-term plan is to create an iconic, £1.1B mixed-use community over the next 10 years. This includes the 6.5-acre park, world-class office space, homes and leisure facilities alongside further extensive public realm.

The Mayfield regeneration vision will eventually, potentially, provide 1,500 homes, 800K SF of office space, a 650-bedroom hotel, retail and leisure space.

If the plans are approved work on-site could begin this year.

Architect Studio Egret West is the master planner for the Mayfield Park and Bennetts Associates is the architect of the commercial development. Deloitte Real Estate is the planning consultant.

The Mayfield Partnership comprises LCR, Manchester City Council, Transport for Greater Manchester and regeneration specialist U+I.
