Westwood's Landmark Regent Theatre To Give Way For Restaurants

Placeholder

The 50-year-old Landmark Regent Theatre in Westwood may soon be converted into two restaurants. The theater's owners have filed an application to transform the property at 1045 Broxton Ave.

The Landmark Regent was originally retail stores in the 1940s, L.A. Magazine reports. It then became a warehouse before Laemmle remodeled it into a theater in 1966.

It was acquired in the 1970s by Mann Theaters. The Regent took it over 15 years ago.

There are now only three theaters in the area, The Bruin, the Fox and iPic Theaters, all on Wilshire Boulevard.
