LA Making Strong Case for Olympic Glory

Placeholder

As one of seven cities competing to host the 2024 Olympics, LA is rolling out the red carpet, with a proposed $4.1B budget and snazzy plans to transform booming Downtown into the ultimate venue. New plans include four clusters of games that utilize Disney’s Concert Hall, the Convention Center and a revitalized LA River as centerpieces. The heart of the plan repositions Exposition Park—the city’s museum row—as Olympic Park, which most likely would include Olympic Village and the International Broadcast Centre. Perhaps the largest venue would be a a renovated Memorial Coliseum transformed to a world-class athletics facility with seating for 80,000. LA also is expecting at least one new NFL stadium in the next few years, which would surely be an attractive venue. [ITG]
