The LA City Council has approved a live/work ordinance that will set new development standards in industrial areas and the downtown Arts District (where the cool building above is located) in particular.

In exchange for easing zoning restrictions, there will be quotas for affordable housing and green spaces.

New housing will have to be designed for live/work purposes with at least 750 SF on average for in-home businesses, according to the LA Downtown News.

As part of the measure, space must also be set aside for non-residential usage. [LADTN]
