Long Beach Seeking Funds For Repair Work On The Queen Mary

Placeholder

Long Beach may need major help to make $23M in necessary repairs to the Queen Mary.

While it's not clear exactly what problems the money would be used to fix, it would include waterproofing the ship's roof, some restoration work and reinforcing the ship's hull.

The water, electric and sewer systems could also be replaced, the Long Beach Press Telegram reports.

Urban Commons has leased the property since April of this year. Garrison Investment formerly held the long-term lease.

The ship is also a hotel, and there has been talk of redeveloping the property surrounding the Queen Mary into a hotel and an entertainment venue.

City council is scheduled to vote on a revised agreement with Urban Commons on Tuesday. [LBPT]
