Another Development May Be Headed To The Arts District

Can the Arts District get any more popular?

Another development, the 670 Mesquit project, could be headed to the neighborhood. It could rise along the LA River.

The Gallo family and V.E. Equities are joining forces to build the unique project, which mainly consists of glass.

The project would include 250 residential units, two boutique hotels, 800k SF of creative office space and open space, the LA Times reports.

The project would fit requirements outlined by Measure JJJ, which passed last month and makes including affordable housing and hiring workers locally mandatory for such projects.

The developers hope to start building before next March, when voters will weigh in on the Neighborhood Integrity Initiative.

Developers are scheduled to meet with local residents about the project at 5 pm Monday at 2014 East 7th St.

The Gallo family also owns the Rancho Cold Storage facility on Mesquit Street. [LAT]
