Colliers International Expands Healthcare Team With Addition Of James Burnap

Colliers International is betting on healthcare.

The firm has recruited James Burnap, a veteran broker, as a VP in its Healthcare Services group in LA.

Jim, who has more than 20 years of commercial real estate experience, has specialized in medical office and commercial deals, including build-to-suit projects and buying owner-user properties.

He is considered an expert on healthcare-related properties, and forecast an increased demand for medical office space after the passage of the Affordable Care Act six years ago.

The industry is now "at the beginning of the growth curve for healthcare-related properties," but the growth will continue for decades, Jim tells Bisnow.

“That bodes well for those of us in the vanguard of healthcare brokerage,” he says.

Jim calls the current upswing the tip of the iceberg as the healthcare system keeps getting bigger.

"It is a real sea change, an exciting time to bring our knowledge and experience to bear for our clients" nationally and locally, says Jim, who will be based in Colliers' LA North office in Encino.

He has listed imaging centers, medical office buildings and other healthcare-related properties on the Westside, including in Century City, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills and the San Fernando Valley.
