Hail to the Chiefs of Innovation!

Los Angeles

During his visit to LA last week, President Obama didn't just rub elbows with the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow. He also paid a visit to Cross Campus, a collaborative work environment in Santa Monica, to hold a town hall style Q&A with members of the LA creative and entrepreneur communities. According to the White House, the site was chosen because it "fosters the kind of creativity and innovation that will help Millennials continue to create good jobs, start new businesses, and unleash the next wave of great American economic growth." The President hit on a variety of topics, including healthcare, immigration policy, and creating an environment of opportunity for the Millennial generation.

Also in attendance were LA and Santa Monica mayors Eric Garcetti and Pam O'Connor, LA's chief innovation technology officer Peter Marx, and assemblyman Richard Bloom. Cross Campus CEO Ronen Olshansky tells us that one of the highlights, and proud, surreal moments, for him was President Obama speaking directly across the room to Mayor Garcetti about what LA's doing to promote technology innovation. In addition to the Santa Monica campus visited by the President, Cross Campus will open a 20k SF facility in Pasadena in January. For a video of the President's remarks, click here.
