You'd hardly call Vernon part of LA's fashion district. (If you said meatpacking, then you'd be talking.) But Colliers VP Will Smith points to a shift among the industrial city's garment companies: more creative office space with high-end employees doing the design work in town, and less space devoted to warehousing. Example: Serge Azria, who recently bought two buildings across the street from his existing HQ in Vernon. The buildings will house Azria's expanded corporate offices and design studio; one building will house a retail store. Will repped the buyer, whose brands include Joie, Current/Elliott and Equipment.
