Work on the £1.7B Royal Albert Docks redevelopment project will start in early 2017. The eight-year project will provide a base for Asian and European companies and boost trade links with international markets.

An initial investment of £300M was announced at the East London-China Investment Summit, where more than 50 Asian business leaders were gathered as part of Chinese Vice Premier Ma Kai’s visit to the UK.

Chinese developer ABP pledged to invest £1.7B in the next eight years supported by its partners, CITIC Group and Thai company Charoen Popkhand Group. The project will create 30,000 new jobs and pump £6B into the local economy.
