Pro Wakeboarder Hits Republic’s Canals

Award-winning wakeboarder Matt Crowhurst hit the canals of the Docklands last week at Trilogy Property’s Republic development.

As part of his bid to ride some of London’s most unusual waterways, the Chichester-based sportsman approached the developers with a proposal to build a custom "kicker" to perform some stunts for an appreciative crowd of office agents.

The canals, which are just 26 inches wide, are set to be redeveloped as part of Studio RHE’s refurbishment, and so the wakeboarder was keen to attempt a ride beneath the bridges, some “wall jibs” and “kicker hits,” before construction begins.

Republic welcomed the stunt as it prepares for an official agent launch this month.

Crowhurst said “I think the bridge now has helmet scuffs on the underside, and it was subzero in there," Crowhurst said. "Other than that, it was fun and I hope they let me back when they finish the works.”
