City Seeks To Raise Awareness About Energy Efficiency By Asking You To Turn The Lights Out

When you consider the fact that in one hour, the sun produces 3.8 x 10^23 kilowatt-hours, using electricity for light during the day just seems silly. At least, that's the case the City of Houston is trying to make by participating in Daylight Hour, an international campaign to raise awareness about the benefits of harnessing daylight by encouraging offices around the world to turn out the lights in daylight spaces for an hour.

On June 17, the City of Houston is asking offices with daylight workspace to turn out the lights for one hour from 11am to noon. Participation is as simple as registering online, posting about it on social media using #DaylightHour, and flipping a switch.
