Heritage Restaurant Group, part of the Dhanani Group, has bought Cyclone Anaya's. Named after world champion wrestler Cyclone Anaya, the restaurant has been feeding Houstonians for nearly 50 years, expanding to six locations.

Ricardo Valencia, owner of Cyclone Anaya’s and the youngest son of the wrestler, sold to the Dhanani Group but struck a deal to retain the Fairfax, Virginia, location as well as open a new concept, Cyclone Anaya’s Tex Mex Cantina, this September in Austin.

Valencia is selling for personal reasons. In emails to the Houston Business Journal earlier this year, Valencia said he was diagnosed with cancer, causing him to re-evaluate his life. Though he is now cancer-free, he felt it was the right time to pass the torch to the Dhanani Group.

The Dhanani Group operates more than 800 restaurant locations in the U.S.
