Breaking News: Big Brothers Big Sisters to Get Iconic New HQ

Houston Office

Houston firms are teaming up to build a new HQ pro bono for Big Brothers Big Sisters that will boost its capacity to mentor Houston’s youth. It’ll have a color-changing, three-story feature wall that should become a new iconic landmark

Three Square Design principal Jake Donaldson (pictured at Big Brothers Big Sisters’ Big Black Tie Ball this weekend with director of projects Vanessa Ortega and project manager Jackie Rye) tells us the three-story building will be on Washington Avenue and will also feature an open-air atrium, top-floor balcony with views of Downtown, and a focus on sustainability. Last year, BBBS had 1,997 mentoring matches, and the new building will help it reach its goal of serving more than 3,000 children.

The new facility will break ground in Q1 ‘15. The pro bono team (totaling more than $250k of donated services) also includes Bury, Earth Engineering, Rogers O’Brien, Triten Real Estate Partners, All City Permits, and schematic design by Rice University’s architecture school in partnership with Agency-Agency.
