Yet Another Corporate HQ Packs Up And Moves To Houston

Placeholder

Yesterday General Electric's Power Conversion operation announced it will move its North American HQ to Houston from Pittsburgh.

The move will shift 70 positions to the area. It's early in the process so the company couldn't specify the exact HQ address, but it will likely be at an existing GE facility. The move will be felt most deeply by the 400 workers at GE's Blawnox plant, which will be closing at the end of the year.

GE acquired Converteam Group SAS in 2011 for $3.2B, branding the business as GE Power Conversion. The Blawnox plant included in the deal made large solar inverters, which convert energy from direct current to alternating current. The devices are used in large US solar projects.
