Major Houston-Area Expansion For Planet Fitness
New Hampshire-based Planet Fitness plans to open four new Houston-area locations over the next five weeks. The first opened on March 22 at 24547 Katy Fwy within Crossing at Katy Ranch. Next month Planet Fitness will open two other locations, one at 1701 Fairway Dr in Alvin and the other at 6960 Barker Cypress in West Houston. The final opening will be on May 2 at 8150 Southwest Fwy, reports the Houston Business Journal.
Fitness-based franchises are springing up all over Houston lately. SoulCycle recently announced its first Houston location and last year, Equinox, a 33k SF full-service fitness club, opened in River Oaks District. All this working out in combination with sweating over the price of oil will have Houstonians looking mighty fit this summer. [HBJ]
