A six-story, 228k SF building will be added to Houston Methodist's West Houston Hospital. The project will provide more beds, operating rooms and an expanded emergency department as well as a new parking garage. The project also includes work on emergency generators, new boilers, chillers and other utilities. The city has already approved $15M in building permits, reports the Houston Business Journal.

Houston Methodist is also working on a $697M, 1M SF tower in the Medical Center, fueling the boom in medical development around Houston. Contractors are scrambling to capitalize; Arch-Con recently brought on a medical construction heavy-hitter. [HBJ]
