Mark Dotzour: Houston Economy Slows, But Not a Lot

Houston Economy

Houston won’t have the mammoth growth it’s been experiencing. But, Texas A&M Real Estate Center chief economist Mark Dotzour (here, speaking at a North Texas CCIM Chapter and CREW Dallas event Wednesday) says instead of adding another 120,000 jobs (like 2014), Houston will likely see about 50,000 new jobs this year. He’s still bullish on the Texas economy. He will, however, be anxiously watching oil-producing countries to see how they’ll react to OPEC’s abundant release of oil, which has driven down prices globally.
