Museum of Fine Arts Breaks Ground on New Campus

The Museum of Fine Arts Houston broke ground on its new $450M campus. Phase 1 includes the new Glassell School of Art, an 80k SF building with space for both junior and adult schools, and a roof garden with a view of the entire campus. The initial phase also includes construction of the Brown Foundation Plaza.

Nearly $364M has been raised for the project, including $70M from wealth manager Fayez Sarofim and $50M from the Kinder Foundation

The project team includes landscape architect Deborah Nevins & Associates, Steven Holl Architects, Lake Flato Architects and general contractor McCarthy Building Cos. The campus is expected to be complete in 2019.
