Hines-Pierce has worked for the company since 2012, and previously served as transformation officer and in other roles. Since joining Hines' office of the CEO in 2020, she's been central in launching three international funds and helping define the firm's Environmental, Social & Governance commitments. She was also heavily involved in creating and developing Hines' diversity, equity and inclusion initiative.

Hines-Pierce, who is 38 and currently pregnant, is thought to be one of the youngest CEOs atop a large real estate company. Her father is current CEO Jeff Hines, who took over as the role after his father, Gerald D. Hines, died in 2020.

“Laura has brought tremendous innovation to the firm and has been instrumental in driving efficiency and creating value for our investors and clients. It’s an honor to have her join me as co-CEO,” Jeff Hines said in a release. “Leading Hines during the real estate industry’s massive transformation takes strategic thinking, vision and empathetic leadership, which are qualities that Laura exemplifies. I’m looking forward to us continuing my father’s legacy of prioritizing quality, service and integrity together.”

The company states that Hines-Pierce's brothers, Adam and Matthew, will join in the office of the CEO soon, as well, as the company executes its succession plan.

In addition to billions slated for new global life sciences properties, Hines has recently funneled massive amounts of cash into numerous industries, especially those that have proven strong amid Covid-19, like data centers.
